1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1 10 1/2 ounce can condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons catsup

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

long (fat, not skinny) roll of French bread..or Italian bread..not sure what it is called

butter

red and yellow peppers – not sure how many

tomatoes for slicing – again, not sure how many…use medium sized ones…not huge ones

grated cheddar cheese ( some recipes use grated swiss..have not tried that, but it sounds good)

Instructions:

Brown meet in large skillet.  Add onion and garlic; cook till onion is crisp-tender.  Combine remaining ingredients and add to meat.  Heat through, but do not boil.  Slice bread in half horizontally.  Take some of the bread out of the center of both halves to create a ‘boat’ for the meat mixture.  Butter both halves.  Slice the peppers and tomatoes into thin, neat slices.  Fill the bread boats with the meat mixture.  Layer the peppers on top, then the tomatoes and finally, the  cheese.  Bake at 350 for about 20-30 minutes.  Don’t let it get too brown.

After cooking, slice and serve. You can eat these with your hands.
